Orizuru Workshop with Marta Nyrkova and Vlad Filonenko as part of the «Kyiv–Venice» exhibition
19.09.2026 -We invite you to a meditative Orizuru paper-folding workshop with artists Marta Nyrkova and Vlad Filonenko, held as part of the exhibition “Kyiv–Venice”, on September 19 at 2 PM at M17 Contemporary Art Center.
Orizuru (from Japanese ori — folded and tsuru — crane) is a symbolic medium embodying archetypes of peace, healing, and the aspiration to make a dream come true.

The phenomenology of the origami-folding gesture lies in a subtle, almost therapeutic microsensory experience. It becomes a way of reclaiming agency: by restoring control over a tiny fragment of matter held in one’s hands, one symbolically moves from external chaos toward an inner cosmos.
During the workshop, each participant will have an opportunity to slow down, spend some time with their thoughts, and fold their own paper crane using a special technique together with the artists who created the eponymous installation for the “Kyiv–Venice” exhibition.
All materials needed for the workshop will be provided by the gallery.
Admission with an exhibition ticket upon registration.
