July 30: KYIV – VENICE: New Dawns in Minor Keys

30.07.2026 -

KYIV – VENICE
New Dawns in Minor Keys

Opening of a new exhibition project at M17 Contemporary Art Center

Take a slow breath in. Breathe out…

Touch. Listen. Feel. Restore. Co-create this space.

On July 30, M17 Center for Contemporary Art presents a bridge-like exhibition project that imaginatively connects two of Europe’s symbolic waterways—the Dnipro River and the Venetian Lagoon. The exhibition enters into dialogue with the theme of this year’s Venice Biennale, In Minor Keys.

Inspired by the ideas of Koyo Kouoh, curator of the 61st Venice Biennale, the project approaches art as a space for emotional, sensory, and human experience. Through Ukrainian archetypal symbols, images of nature, mythological thinking, and traditional artistic practices, the exhibition creates oases of new experiences where art becomes a space for regeneration, collaboration, and open dialogue.

Kyiv – Venice does not seek to interpret or summarize the Venice Biennale. Instead, it offers a parallel narrative rooted in the Ukrainian artistic experience, engaging with themes of minority, archaic memory, nature, and inner transformation.

The exhibition project Kyiv – Venice is a journey back to oneself—a path of sensory discovery, shared experience, solitude, music, and movement. In constant interaction with its visitors, M17 transforms into a space of calm and trust, inviting us to experience the true dimension of our shared humanity together.
