Mykhailo Alekseyenko is the main winner of the first M17 Sculpture Prize!

28.02.2021

On Saturday, February 27th, M17 Contemporary Art Center hosted the award ceremony of the winner of the first prize in the field of three-dimensional art M17 Sculpture Prize!

Mykhailo Alekseyenko, the author of The Crystal Dream, received the main prize and 250,000 UAH from Adamovskiy Foundation.

The jury noted the convincing effect of the work at various levels – from the individual level of the narrow circle of the family to the collective form of memory within the nation or state. Experts also stressed that The Crystal Dream, which main “language unit” is tableware, can work with these levels around the world, as tableware has a huge symbolic influence on the individual and collective memory of members of any community.

Two more nominees received special awards from our partners. Thus,  SEARCH Foundation has awarded Andriy Kyrychenko the prize for the work “Books” in the nomination “For the preservation and development of ceramic traditions”. Berkeley Real Estate, partners of The Berkeley World in Ukraine awarded Daniil Shumikhin for the sculpture “Unstable connections with the future in these conditions” in the nomination “For artistic understanding of the influence of architectural forms”.
