The project “30 Meters Above Sea Level” is a form of visual monologue, composed of small mise-en-scènes that encapsulate the author’s personal experiences.

The central reference point is the subjective “I,” which expands and absorbs the entire world. The works consist of distinct elements that do not intersect, forming clusters of their own semantic signs, suspended in a vacuum. A set of symbols that represent a conditional reality. It is like cosmic gravity or the measurement of long jumps – a modern form of social competition and dependency. Once trapped in them, one is forced to obey the rules of a given ‘game’.

The image of a donkey serves as a self-portrait, a visual device borrowed from iconography, where human figures often take on zoomorphic forms, carrying diverse symbolic meanings.

In both content and composition, parallels can be drawn with the works of Bosch and Siqueiros. Their artworks transition from darkness to “light,” filled with intricate personal imagery that completely overtakes the canvas, creating an ordered chaos.

“Thirty years passed, like thirty meters above sea level. Above the horizon line, which is an absolute and a state of calm…”
