Zhurunova Marharyta, Lokatyr Bohdan
We all share a feeling of anxiety. Nothing is certain, the sense of security is lost. Safe places have disappeared; anything can be perceived as a danger, even the most familiar, everyday things. There is no threat, so why is the heart pounding anyway?
Once comfortable spaces sprout thorns. Where do they sprout from, and to whom are they directed? Do they protect or hurt? Vibrating, tense – an anxious state. This idea arose in the process of thinking about how our land art work “Anxious State” can be transferred to the gallery, adapted, without changing the meaning.
We have been working on the problem of representation of land art/environmental art works in the gallery space for a long time. Such projects are inseparable from the natural space, and printed photo documentation is, in our opinion, too boring a method, so every time we try new ways.
Zhurunova Marharyta, Lokatyr Bohdan
The creative association has existed since 2015, from the first joint project created at the Mythogenesis winter land art festival. Both participants, Marharyta Zhurunova from Vinnytsia (29.11.1994) and Bohdan Lokatyr from Lviv (04.05.1993), studied together at the Ukrainian Academy of Printing at the Department of Book and Easel Graphics and graduated in 2018 with a master’s degree. Prior to that, Bohdan Lokatyr also studied at the Ivan Trush Lviv State College of Decorative and Applied Arts, majoring in artistic ceramics.
The main activities of the group are environmental art and land art. The main themes are the interaction between humans and the landscape around them. Of course, after 24.02.2022, most of the works created are on the theme of war.
Also in 2019, both artists were awarded scholarships from the President of Ukraine for young writers and artists, and received a grant from the President of Ukraine to create the second volume of the art book “Ukrainian Bestiary”.
