Valeriia Osina
In my artistic practice, I work with minimalist fragments of the urban environment. I am interested in ordinary, almost unnoticed elements — walls, entrances, and architectural fragments that are usually not perceived as images, yet remain constantly present in everyday experience.
I pay particular attention to the surface as a carrier of time. Wear, multiple layers of paint, scratches, peeling, and traces of accidental interventions record the duration of a space’s existence. In my works, I attempt to convey these processes of transformation, where the surface ceases to be neutral and begins to accumulate memory.
My works exist between figuration and abstraction. Space is often reduced to simple geometric planes, while the composition is built on a balance between presence and emptiness.
Through the use of texture, a limited color palette, and a minimal number of elements, I attempt to capture the fragility of the urban environment and its capacity to preserve traces of time.

Valeriia Osina’s artistic practice focuses on exploring the surface as a carrier of memory and time. She works with minimalist images of fragments of the urban environment — walls, entrances, and architectural details. Through the use of texture, multilayered painting, and a restrained color palette, the artist examines processes of wear, transformation, and the accumulation of experience within urban space.
Her works balance between figuration and abstraction, where space is often reduced to simple geometric forms and surfaces.
Alongside her artistic practice, she has worked in the field of theatrical scenography and monumental painting. She participated in the creation of stage design elements for the Kharkiv Theatre of Musical Comedy, and has also completed large-scale decorative paintings for interior and façade spaces.
