The work is a collaboration between two artists: a sculpture by Diana Demyanenko and a video piece by Yurii Syvyryn.
The sculpture is an abstract form made of white paraffin, suspended against the wall. Though the material resembles marble, it is temporary and highly sensitive to temperature. Its shape is non-representational, offering only subtle hints of something bodily or organic.
A video work by Yurii Syvyryn is projected onto the sculpture. The video unfolds as a continuous flow of transforming imagery — forest scenes, abstract patterns, and occasional fragments of figuration appear and dissolve.
The piece explores the boundary between the material and the virtual, focusing on the constant shifting of form, perception, and image.
Diana Demyanenko was born in 2000 in the Odesa region. Lives and works in Kyiv.
In 2024, she earned a master’s degree from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture (Kyiv).
In her artistic practice, she explores the relationship between humans and their environment, themes of wartime conditions, and personal self-analysis. The core of her work lies in understanding how social upheavals, ecological disasters, and internal transformations affect individuals and their interactions with the world.
The artist works across various techniques and materials, including painting (oil, acrylic) and installation, incorporating natural elements such as soil and wax. Tactile sensations and texture play a crucial role in her works, through which she seeks to convey a living dialogue between humans and nature.
Her aesthetic leans toward minimalism — simple forms and images become tools for expressing complex themes. She believes that conciseness can communicate profound ideas and draw attention to significant social and environmental issues.
In her works, Demyanenko raises questions about coexistence, vulnerability, adaptation, and the need to reconsider humanity’s place in the world.
Yuriy Syvyryn was born in 1983 in Kyiv.
In 2007, he graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture with a degree in painting.
From 2007 to 2010, he completed a postgraduate internship at NAFAA.
In 2011, he taught at the “Natkhnennia” Center for Creative Development. He has been a lecturer at the Department of Painting at NAFAA and previously taught at the Department of Fine Arts at the Dragomanov National Pedagogical University. In 2010, he received recognition from the Department of Drawing.
A recipient of the Tadzio Gallery scholarship (2008–2010).
Works across various media, including painting, video, installation, and objects in both gallery spaces and urban environments. Develops a unique personal technique and reinterprets themes from art history and contemporary issues.
His work has gained significant recognition, with several solo and curatorial projects, including Kyiv Contemporary at Mystetskyi Arsenal (2013, Kyiv) and Theory of Probability at the exhibition space of the Institute of Contemporary Art, National Academy of Arts.
