Grublyak Vasyl
“Egregore in some occult beliefs is a name for non-physical substances generated by thoughts and emotions of a group of people, their ‘collective mind’. According to those beliefs, an egregore that receives enough mental energy for sustenance can take on a life of its own, becoming an independent entity. The more numerous and cohesive the community that gives off that energy is, the stronger and more long-lived the egregore will be. Thus, the egregore can be considered as structural psychology of society. In my work, I offer my own vision of the egregore, presented as a light installation.”

Creative path:
Vasyl works on the boundary between art and design. The artist pays special attention to exploring the topic of light. He invents lamps and fixtures, light sculptures and installations, develops and implements lighting design projects. Each of his objects has its history and individuality, with a whole philosophy behind it. Yet, minimalism and functionality are always the dominant features of his works. Vasyl’s objects implement the concept of movement and transformation, which provides an opportunity to best integrate them into space and establish a dialogue with the viewer or user.
Since 2013, Vasyl Grublyak and Oleksii Zolotariov have often worked together as GAZ Art Group.
In 2019, Vasyl entered the shortlist of nominees for the M17 Sculpture Prize.
