“Life in Kyiv in 2022: From Headlines to Reality” is a project that portrays the complex and dramatic reality of people’s lives during wartime. It is a story that tells of despair, fear, and the struggle for freedom. Each photograph in this project bears witness to what happened in Kyiv in 2022.

They depict peaceful life intersecting with news of war, the mobilization of women, and the absence of basic necessities. But behind each photograph lies the story of a person’s life, their emotions and experiences during these difficult times. Each photograph in this project is unique, as they include cutouts from newspapers that reflect important events in the country. This adds depth and significance to each photograph and forces the viewer to reflect on what is happening around us.

This project is not only a historical document but also an artwork that highlights the importance and significance of human experience and emotions. It can contribute to understanding what happened in the country during the war and help preserve the memory of those who went through these difficulties and fought for freedom.

Antonenko Anastasiia
Date of birth: 1996
Place of residence: Luhansk, Kyiv

Antonenko Anastasii, born in 1996 in Luhansk, Ukraine, relocated to Kyiv in 2014. In 2019, she graduated from Kyiv National Linguistic University. With a strong passion for photography, she initially gained knowledge at the Kyiv School of Photography.

Later in late 2021, she joined the MYPH school, delving deeper into the realm of art photography. Anastasia specializes in analog and instant photography, exploring diverse techniques and conducting experiments. Anastasiia uses photography as a means of communication with the viewer, sharing her thoughts and reflections through her photographs.

Her works have been featured in NFT online exhibitions and various magazines, as well as showcased at exhibitions in Germany, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.

Additionally, she contributed to the book “MYTH,” a publication highlighting the “Mykolaiv Young Photography” school. Notably, she participated in a residence program in Nuremberg, Germany, in April 2023.
