A body that wants to be a landscape
A body that wants to be a landscape 130x180 cm, canvas, oil, levkas, 2022
About the artwork

“A body that wants to be a landscape The body of a fallen soldier, merging with the earth. This is a poem written the day before the war started: To my unborn angels. I thought you came to heal us. But you came to remind us of yourselves. Remind us of the reason for your crucifixion. I want to lift every body that has fallen. But I have no strength. Any strength. From all of humanity.”

“In my practice, I work with images using the double power of images. In figurative painting, I move away from the concept of narration in favor of a combination of different semantic layers.

The study of the sacred through the image of the suffering body has a significant role in my practice. I use such material as gesso primer in my works which is traditionally used in icon painting.”
