About the artwork

Series «Phantoms. Imprint of experience»

These are curtains. That’s what they called in ancient times in Ukraine, paper cutouts were attached to windows. Silhouettes and symbols were made on them. They served as symbolic protection instead of curtains. Ornaments were territorial and unique. The works tell about objects of cultural heritage. About every destroyed building that was our history. A temple, a museum, a gallery, etc. Russia does not just want to seize territories, but to destroy identity. As our culture was destroyed over the centuries, it manifested itself in our descendants. Yes Each work has the phantom of an already destroyed building, and the ornaments correspond to the place where they are located. As culture survives and manifests itself through generations, so fonts manifest themselves through the sun. Under each signature is the location and name. And the obligatory «Destroyed by Russia». They want to take land and life, but not to destroy culture. It leaves its mark in generations. And don’t forget it. The world remembers everything…
