Bohuslavska Tetiana
My work emerged in the context of the full-scale war initiated by Russia against Ukraine. A constant flow of news about attacks and casualties. Constant sirens. Silence has changed its meaning. Moments of silence for the fallen. Once again, a flow of news about the dead—women, children, men.
Technically, the work consists of screenshots of an Instagram feed. During blackouts (a result of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy system), the internet works poorly, and content loads slowly. I used these screenshots as brushstrokes and worked on the first piece in the series for a year—from the idea’s inception to its realization. For me, it is a practice of remembering colors, life, and dreams, despite their daily destruction.
Tetiana Bohuslavska
An artist and poet, born in 1990 in Kyiv. Works with photography, video, installation, performance, painting, and mixed media. Her projects address feminist issues, psychological well-being, including trauma caused by the war, and ecology.
