“Fragile Coast” is a project based on the study of local clay collected on coastal slopes and research into the ceramic artifacts of the Black Sea region.
The title “Fragile Coast” refers both to the physical fragility of the material, which causes landslides and instability of the landscape, and to the broader fragility of physical carriers of memory.
The project raises the issue of cultural heritage preservation in conditions of environmental hostility. The series of works address the topic of risks of loss – not by direct depiction of destruction, but by creating a context in which a trace, a mark, a void become signs of absence and loss. It points to what is no longer there or what may soon disappear.
