Viktoriia Kalashnyk
У центрі композиції розташована карусель — образ, що традиційно асоціюється з дитинством, безтурботністю та циклічністю часу. Проте тут вона набуває іншого значення. Її вісь — корпус морської міни, предмет, що символізує сучасну війну, небезпеку й заміновані простори українських земель, а також піднімає проблематику дитинства в наших реаліях.
Руйнування стало основою нашого життя, та воно ж стає поштовхом і надією для відновлення. А діти підкреслюють важливість не здаватись і воліти бажати кращого майбутнього як для країни, так і для наших дітей.
Viktoriia Kalashnyk is a Ukrainian artist and volunteer, born in Donetsk and now living and working in Kyiv. She works under the artistic alias Ms. Chestnut. She paints in oil on canvas in a style she herself describes as “Ukrainian folk realism”; a signature device is incorporating the canvas fabric itself as a pictorial element within the work.
She is widely known for her wartime volunteer art activity: she is a participant in the “Cultural Landing” movement (the civilian arm of the “Cultural Forces of Ukraine” initiative) from its founding, working within the street-art project “Walls of Culture,” which has produced over 250 murals across de-occupied and front-line cities. Notably, she has painted “stained-glass” murals on plywood-boarded windows — symbols of beauty and renewal for war-affected cities.

- Featured subject of the YouTube project “Prostir Svobody” (“Space of Freedom”) — “Viktoriia Kalashnyk: the person who drew HIMARS”; per the video’s own description, she created one of the largest-scale drawings/geoglyphs in Ukraine (this claim comes from the video’s promotional description; no independent record-authority confirmation was found).
