Books about Avant-Garde

20.01.2019 - 20.01.2019

Book investigation within exhibition “Avant-garde: In Search of the Fourth Dimension”. The development of the theme of Ukrainian avant-garde can be traced through books published during the 20th century.

What books were published in Ukraine and in the world? Who were the authors? How did this affect the recognition of Ukrainian artists at home and in the world? We follow the story about how books about individual artists – representatives of Ukrainian avant-garde, including Mikhail Andrienko, Alexander Arkhipenko, Alexander Bogomazov, David Burliuk, Alexey Gryshchenko, Alexander Exter, Kazimir Malevich, Anatoly Petritokgarga, have influenced the development of Ukrainian avant-garde. Let’s talk about the avant-garde book covers and understand the main ideas they convey to the reader.

Lecturer:
Kateryna Lebedeva is a journalist, writer, publisher. Founder of Library of Ukrainian Art
