Drobot Maria
“This work was created when I returned to Kyiv after the liberation of the region. For the first time since the beginning of the war, I had the opportunity to work. This work is called Tropaion – a Greek trophy, usually a statue erected by the victors at the site of a final or significant battle. The woman on the bas-relief holds a bouquet of two flowers, which in Ukrainian tradition symbolise mourning, but the sword complements the bouquet, making the number of flowers odd – traditional for celebration.”
Maria Drobot was born in 1996 in Kyiv.
She is a multidisciplinary figurative artist. The main theme of her practice is the study of the function of everyday religious art and the desire to build a personal iconography.
