Irina Shkoda is a Paris-based artist working with photography and video. Born in Kyiv, she studied at the Docdocdoc School of Modern Photography in Saint Petersburg (2019) and later completed a course at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. She is currently pursuing an MA in contemporary art at Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
Her practice engages with themes of the sacred, personal trauma, and social taboos, often drawing from autobiographical experience — including her adolescence spent in a convent. In the series MISERERE, Shkoda combines imagery with psalms to create a visual meditation on memory and faith.
She was shortlisted for the Belfast Photo Festival (2024) and Critical Mass (2023), and has received grants from PhMuseum and Nikon–Noor. Her works have been exhibited at Les Nuits Photo, Circulation(s), Jakarta Photo Festival, Fotolimo, and Boutographies, and published in Le BOOK, British Journal of Photography, and Calvert Journal.
