Book of Memory
Book of Memory 2024 Steel 75 × 50 × 18 cm
About the artwork

In public perception, a Book of Memory is a symbolic archive that documents information about those who died in wars or catastrophes.

Despite its symbolic nature and clear narrative, this image does not have a fixed form, leaving space for reflection on how such a book might actually look.

In my interpretation, it appears as steel shields that bear the traces of resistance and trials. Each functions as a separate, unique page from which a heavy monolithic manuscript is composed.

Education

Artistic Practice

In Petro Gronsky’s artistic explorations, one can trace the influence of Oleksandr Archypenko, whose memorial project is included in the artist’s portfolio. Through the transformation of classical form, the sculptor often turns to metaphysical reflection, foregrounding authenticity rather than the idealization of the depicted subject. Gronsky’s works leave a profound impression through their combination of realism and expressiveness.

He is a member of the youth association of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
