Minin Roman
“My work is devoted to neural networks, mining, and new neural connections. Once the Mayan civilization disappeared because it could not adapt to the challenges of the new time, new orders, and values. This is a good lesson for all civilizations and countries. The world is changing rapidly, and if you do not develop new connections between the past and the future, you risk losing both. In the center of my work’s composition is the miner as a symbol of the transformation of the profession— from the coal miner to the data one. According to the process requests from the future, most of the smart gadgets, involved in organizing the life of the modern city, will mine data. We need to accept the challenge of the new era and to integrate adequately into a new world, not losing our identity but adorning with ourselves an overall picture of the future.”
Roman Minin (June 10, 1981) is a contemporary Ukrainian monumental artist, graphic artist, photographer, and author of objects and installations.
Roman Minin was born in 1981 in Dimitrov (now Myrnograd), Donetsk region. He graduated from the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts in 2008 at the Department of Monumental Painting.
In 2009 he was awarded the medal “Talent and Vocation” of the World Alliance “Peacemaker”. Participant of international art projects and exhibitions, organizer of street art festivals. He founded the directions of SMS art and TRANSMONUMENTALISM.
He actively uses virtual and augmented reality in his creative activity. Co-director of the non-profit organization Art Embassy and the startup Transmonument. Creates an anthology of mining life.
Mining is the main characteristic of the Donetsk region, where Roman Minin was born. For the people of the region, it is not only an industry, but also a way of life. Minin took this as the main theme of his painting and stained glass, as a metaphor for a closed social system that forbids access. In the Donetsk Region Escape Plan, Minin created his own rescue scheme for the imprisonment.
